Goji berries (pronounced go-gee) are the hottest new craze in health and anti-aging. I must say, these are pretty incredible berries that have about a million health benefits. It is a small red berry, known as the “happy berry”, that is found in the mountain valleys of China and Mongolia.

In Chinese medicine, goji berries are used to treat deficiencies in chi (or life force). The science behind it shows that it is loaded with Vitamin C, B vitamins, Vitamin A, 18 amino acids and 21 trace minerals. It has more beta carotene than carrots and carries high amounts of protein, fiber and iron.
So what can these berries do to prevent illness? They’ve been shown to strengthen the immune system, promote heart health and mental acuity, support liver function, increase energy levels and improve sexual dysfunction. The unique polysaccharides from the berries have cancer preventative properties, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging components.

You can buy Goji berries in dried or liquid form. Many manufacturers combine Goji with other fruit juices, so read the labels and choose one with a higher percentage of Goji. Organic is ideal, but might be harder to find. You can use them in smoothies, trail mix, soups, drinks, muffins, cakes, cookies or in your cereal.
Try this mild, sweet fruit and enjoy the taste and benefits!
