Stroke Risk Doubles for Women with Migraines

The fact is that there are 30 million Americans that suffer from migraines; the majority of them being women. Women on birth control pills have a 5-fold increase in stroke if they have migraine with aura. Other risk factors for stroke include hypertension, smoking, obesity, high cholesterol and history of stroke or heart attack.

HealthDay – TUESDAY, Oct. 27 (HealthDay News) — Women who get migraine headaches
with aura should stop smoking and using birth control pills because they
may increase their risk of stroke, researchers say….
